Portsmouth

19 - 28 October

Journeys Festival International returns to the city of Portsmouth for the third year in 2018.

From 19 - 28 October the Festival will bring international sounds and global inspired artwork to the city, sharing the art work of exceptional refugee and asylum seeker artists. Get the dates in your diary! The Festival has been welcomed to the city by a great team of partners who support us to share the refugee experience through great art.

You can also take a look at one of our latest Journeys 2018 projects, Pompey in 15 Items, exploring the cities cultural and heritage sites through new eyes.

The project Pompey in15 Items was inspired by and made with members of the refugee and asylum seeker community in Portsmouth as many were unaware of Portsmouth’s heritage and most had not visited the city’s top heritage attractions. The project brought refugee and asylum-seeking individuals together with Portsmouth residents, to experience tours of five of Portsmouth’s historic attractions. Following the tours, the participants each selected one or two items that they found particularly interesting or inspiring and wrote a short piece introducing the history of that item, which have been put together in this booklet.
