Leicester Refugee Week Events

You, me and those who came before

Leicester partners have created a varied choice of events for Refugee Week 2019 from British Red Cross football World cup and family fun day to pop-up cafes with global cuisine available, you could enjoy an outdoor art exhibition or participate in a number of creative arts workshops at the Museum. New Walk Museum, thanks to the National Portrait Gallery's 'Coming Home' initiative, will play host to, perhaps, the most famous portrait of King Richard III. Sitting alongside the King Richard III portrait you'll also see art created by local people who are making Leicester their second home. At Leicester's newest cultural venue, All Saints Church, you can see a series of brand new art installations that have been created by youth participants from the Y-Theatre thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding.

You can read all about the programme of events in Leicester by reading the handy mini-brochure below.

There are also two opportunities to watch the first Paddington film, featuring everyone's favourite refugee bear, at Phoenix Cinema on 22 and 23 June, tickets are FREE but must be booked in advance here: Paddington at Phoenix
