15-23 JUNE 2019

DIFFERENT PASTS, SHARED FUTURE

You, me and those who came before
#Generations

This Refugee Week we invite you to discover the experiences of displacement that are found in our families, neighbourhoods and history. The theme of Refugee Week 2019, ‘You, me and those who came before’, is an invitation to explore the lives of refugees – and those who have welcomed them – throughout the generations.

As the first Festival of Sanctuary, the Journeys Festival International teams and partners in Leicester, Manchester and Portsmouth have been involved in planning activities in each area throughout the week.

Portsmouth Refugee Week Events

Journeys Festival International is working with Tongues and Grooves in the Community at Central Library hosting poetry performances and Portsmouth University are exploring, 'Where Next For The Queer Refugee?', in a public lecture with a globally recognised legal expert on refugee and human rights based at No5 Barristers’ Chambers, London.
