Manchester: The Container Project

As part of Journeys Festival International Manchester (01- 12 October) a shipping container will be transformed into an innovative project space. Symbolic of export and transference, the container will host a variety of projects and exhibitions including;

 

THE GRAFFITI PROJECT

WED 5 - THURS 6 OCTOBER

 

Internationally - acclaimed, Manchester based street art duo Nomad Clan kick off The Container Project as they spray the facade with a mural inspired by their time spent in the Calais 'jungle'. Come and see them live at work, as they transform it before your eyes. 

 

 

 

 

 

THE STORY BEHIND ME

FRI 7 - SUN 9 OCTOBER

 

The Story Behind Me is an exhibition created by eight members of the Royal Exchange Theatre's World Wide Workshop who worked with photographer Amanda Crowther. The resulting exhibition documents the personal stories of the participants, the challenges they have overcome, and celebrates their talents and contributions to life in the UK.

 

World Wide Workshop is a programme run by the Royal Exchange Theatre which is truly interational. This welcoming group includes new and settled refugees and asylum seekers and help individuals celebrate their own creativity and self-expression through the process of making theatre.

 

RE:CONNECT 

MON 10 - WED 12 OCTOBER

 

Working with the Rethink Rebuild Society, four refugee artists and creatives will deliver workshops with refugee and asylum seekers who have recently settled in Manchester. Unlocking and showcasing the skills and potential of the local refugee community, the exciting new work they create will be exhibited in The Container Project and at Manchester Museum.
