Are you interested in learning more about the heritage and history of Portsmouth? Would you like to be able to help share that knowledge with others in the city? Do you enjoy meeting new people?
Journeys Festival International is pleased to offer the opportunity to be involved in a new heritage project exploring the rich and diverse history of Portsmouth.
Running from March - May with specific dates/times TBC
30 participants with 15 from the refugee and asylum seeker community and 15 from the wider Portsmouth community
Participants will go on tours of five heritage sites and explore their history and collections:
New Theatre Royal
Mary Rose Museum
Participants will explore the architecture and history of each building with behind-the-scenes access to specific area and collections
In pairs, participants will create an introduction sheet to one artefact they found particularly interesting.
These will then be put together to create a publication called ‘Pompey in 15 Items’ which we will share with communities and schools across the city
All participants will be invited to a celebration event to celebrate the launch of the publication!
Travel costs to and from sessions can be reimbursed.
