Look Up: Stamps to Elsewhere (Call out)
About Look Up
Look Up is a large scale, high-impact outdoor visual arts exhibition that aims to take great art celebrating the refugee experience into the public realm. Artworks are enlarged and exhibited on the exteriors of buildings across the city, creating an outdoor gallery and art trail as part of Journeys Festival International.
Look Up 2018
This year’s Look Up exhibition created by acclaimed artist and photographer Farhad Berahman, will be a collection of 10 large-scale postage stamps that will be screen printed on glass and exhibited in public spaces throughout Leicester City Centre during Journeys Festival International (17 - 26 August).
The work explores the theme of displacement and the resettlement of communities. The images used in the stamp designs will represent countries that have the highest number of refugees in the UK including Iran, Syria, Afghanistan and Sudan
Farhad is a UK based Iranian artist specialising in social documentary and editorial photography. His work is concerned with people; the way individuals and communities interact with, or are affected by, their environment. Previous publications and exhibitions include; TATE Britain, Format International Festival, Circulation Festival in Paris, Outpost in Portland and the Four Corners Gallery.
Farhad has a Masters in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography (MA) from University of the Arts London.

The artworks will be created between May and July - we will be able to share the designs with you, and let you know which artwork will be on your building, in early July.
Our install team will attach the artworks directly on the inside of the windows (with the design facing out) on 14, 15 and 16 August.
This will take approximately 1 hour per location. We will need uninterrupted access to the window, if a ladder is required for access, please provide our team with one, we will bring all other equipment that is required with us.
We will provide you with signage to display inside and outside of your building
Following the festival on 27 and 28 August will come and remove the artwork off your windows.
Last year over 50,000 people saw Look Up, and over 1,400 people from across the world watched our Live Streaming of the Look Up Art Walk.
Your venue will be included as a partner organisation in 20,000 Journeys Festival International programmes, which are distributed across the city and county.
Due to the visibility of the exhibition, Look Up features heavily in all of our PR, therefore as a partner on the project you will be named in the press release and subsequent Radio, TV and Printed Press coverage.
As part of Look Up we will have an accompanying programme of talks, walks and workshops. These will include:
Screen Printing Workshops
Artist-led walks - some of which will be live streamed
A series of artist talks
If you are interested in hosting any of these activities please email Maddie@ArtReach.biz
