About the opportunity

This is paid development opportunity that connects to a programme of work called ‘Journeys into Film’. It offers someone experience of working in an arts organisation and in developing film programmes.

You will have the opportunity to learn from our team and help create a new programme of short films and screen these in a series of events both online and at independent and community cinemas in Manchester and/or Leicester. ArtReach is committed to address under representation of people from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) backgrounds working in the arts and film industries. We encourage and welcome applications from people who have lived experience of forced migration or the asylum process who are now settled and have the right to work in the UK to join our team to deliver this exciting project.

Is it for me?

We are looking for applicants who:

  1. Are passionate about film and the arts

  2. Aspire to become a leader in the film, art or cultural sector

  3. Have personal experience of, or a strong understanding of the issues facing people who have experienced, forced migration and seeking asylum in the UK

  4. Have some experience working or volunteering for an arts or community organization or event

  5. Experience using social media

  6. Great communication skills

  7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive

  8. Live in the North or Midlands

  9. Come from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background

A bonus if you have (but in no way essential):

  1. Have some experience (however small) of initiating or managing film, arts or other cultural activity

  2. Strong interest in and knowledge of Human Rights issues

Owing to current restrictions in place, this role is likely to be based remotely as opposed to the office, and therefore, the successful candidate will need to have access to a laptop or computer and an internet connection.

What is the pay?

The trainee will be paid at £9.50 per hour (per full 8 hour day) for 20 days spread over the period from December 2020 to March 2021.
